UNIT 8: ENERGY SOURCES AND TRANSFER OF ENERGY

STUDENTS LEARNING OUTCOMES (SLOs)

Define work and its SI unit.Define kinetic energy and potential energy Use Kinetic Energy E = ½ mv2 and potential energy E = mgh; to solve problems.  Describe the processes by which energy is converted from one form to another with reference to fossil fuel energy, hydroelectric generation, solar energy, nuclear energy, geothermal energy, wind energy, biomass energy and tidal energy.  Differentiate energy sources as non renewable and renewable energy sources with examples of each. Define power and calculate power from the formula Power = work done / time taken
